The Undertaker has never been shy about calling it how he sees it—and now he’s aiming straight at modern wrestling’s obsession with flash over feeling.
During Mic Check Episode 03, the WWE Hall of Famer reflected on his role as a mentor to young talent through WWE’s LFG series and the Performance Center system. His blunt message to the next generation? Ditch the constant high spots and start making fans care.
“Man, I don’t care. I don’t need to see flippy-dos. I don’t need to see this. What I need you to do is tell me a story.”
Taker mentioned that too many wrestlers are mimicking what they see on TV—complex combos, nonstop dives, and overproduced sequences—without understanding how to sell, connect, or make it feel real.
“Go out there and feel this. Feel like you’re kicking somebody’s ass. Feel like you’re getting your ass kicked. Make it organic.”
He shared a story about one rookie wrestler who was skeptical at first but came around after trying Taker’s advice in front of a crowd.
“I had one of the kids the other day come up to me. He wasn’t one of mine. He was on another team, and he goes, ‘You kind of know a little bit about this business.’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He was being sarcastic—but you could also tell he was starting to put some of this stuff into practice. And it worked. And he was just amazed that he didn’t have to do a backflip off the top rope to get a reaction.”
For The Undertaker, it’s not about being flashy—it’s about being believable. And that means tapping into something deeper than just choreography. It’s about storytelling, pain, intensity, and heart. The Deadman’s message is clear: slow down, dig in, and make it matter.
