The Undertaker might be stepping back into WWE—but this time, behind the scenes.
In a new interview with Sports Illustrated’s The TakeDown, the WWE Hall of Famer admitted he’s already been part of WWE creative meetings. However, he isn’t fully sold on making the leap due to the enormous workload that comes with the job.
“Yeah, we—I have—I’ve discussed it. I’ve been involved in some meetings and just trying to get a feel to see where… my schedule is really crazy. And the difficulty of booking TV shows is incredibly difficult. I don’t think people realize how difficult it is to come up with ideas, implement them, think five months down the road, deal with talent, make sure they’re good with things, and talent days off—and trying to interweave all that is incredibly difficult. It’s done a little differently than it was back in my day.”
While many fans think they have the answers, The Undertaker made it clear that creative work is not for the faint of heart.
“There’s a large percentage of our fanbase who think they have all the answers and take to the internet to make their suggestions and thoughts, which is fine… but I don’t think they realize the difficulty of the task at hand. If there’s a role that I feel like I can honestly contribute and make a difference, then I’d be very open to being more hands-on with the product moving forward. But it just has to work for everybody.”
Even though Taker isn’t ruling anything out, fans shouldn’t expect a sudden full-time return to WWE’s backstage environment. He’s playing the long game and weighing what really fits his life now.
