Tyrus just reignited controversy around the NWA — taking a direct shot at the current product with a dismissive comment that made it clear he’s not impressed with the company.

The former NWA Worlds Champion, who retired after losing to EC3 back in 2023, resurfaced recently with a dismissive reaction to the current title picture, openly disparaging the promotion’s latest storyline.

The moment came after NWA posted a video on Instagram promoting a new development in the championship scene, featuring Bryan Idol cashing in the “Lucky 7” rule to challenge for the Ten Pounds of Gold, along with appearances from Billy Corgan and reigning champion Silas Mason. Instead of engaging with the storyline, Tyrus left a blunt comment that immediately grabbed attention: “Yawn.”

That one-word response quickly stood out, especially considering Tyrus’ own history with the NWA World Championship. For context, Tyrus’ reign began in late 2022 and ended at NWA 75 in 2023, where he dropped the title to EC3 in a bullrope match and retired from wrestling. His run was widely criticized at the time, with many fans and critics pointing to his matches — including that final defense — as some of the weakest in the title’s history.

Even now, his championship tenure is still used by critics as a benchmark when discussing issues with the NWA product during that period. Which makes this latest moment even more noticeable — because despite that legacy, Tyrus is now publicly mocking the current direction with a single dismissive comment.

So at the end of the day, Tyrus is out of the ring, but not out of the conversation. And with his own run still being debated, that “Yawn” comment is only going to stir things up even more.
