Tyrese Haliburton has a lot of experience in WWE and people always liked seeing him on television thanks to his heel-ish tendencies. In fact, it seems that there was an idea for him to walk out with John Cena but his injury scrapped that for good.
While speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, Tyrese Haliburton shared that there was an idea involving him and John Cena before his injury. About two months ago, he briefly spoke with Triple H about the possibility of walking Cena out with a championship trophy when Cena was heel in New York and the Indiana Pacers won a title.
Tyrese Haliburton said that when he first got hurt, the main things on his mind were his recovery, the next season and John Cena.
“The plan was like two months ago, and when I say plan, I mean very, very loosely. Like I talked with Triple H maybe about it one time and was like, if Cena is a heel in New York and we win a championship, let me walk him out with the trophy. And I was like, bro, when I got hurt, the first two things I thought about were like this game, next season, John Cena.”
For SummerSlam, Haliburton explained he was only planning to attend as a fan. Triple H suggested he could announce the attendance, but Haliburton turned it down, saying the crowd would boo him heavily. Instead, he planned to just sit in the audience with his crutches, joking that maybe they could end up being used as weapons during the show.
Ultimately, Haliburton stated he was there as a fan, pointing out that Cena may only have a few matches left in the United States. For him, being part of that experience in any way would have been something he didn’t want to miss.
“SummerSlam, I was just going to come as a fan, and Triple H was like, maybe you could announce the attendance. And I was like, you don’t want me to do that—they’re going to boo the sh*t out of me. I’m not doing that. So I’m just going to sit out there. I’ll have my crutches with me, so maybe they’ll get used, and maybe somebody will take them out of the crowd or something and use them. That’d be cool. Solid weaponry.
Yeah, but I’m really just here as a fan, bro. I think John only maybe has a couple more matches in America. So I’m like, bro, why would I not do that if I could, you know?”
Haliburton last appeared on the May 19 episode of WWE RAW but many fans feel it’s a shame he never got to have that walkout with John Cena due to his injury and Haliburton will always be sad about that fact.
