Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24th and the wrestling world continues to remember the Hulkster. This includes Triple H, who has opened up about his relationship with the WWE legend.

While speaking to The Sports Agents, Triple H was asked about Hulk Hogan’s passing and how much the sport owes to Hogan. The Game said that Hulk Hogan helped make WWE and wrestling really popular.

In the 1980s, when “Hulkamania” was everywhere, Hogan made wrestling a big deal all over the world. The first WrestleMania had a lot of famous people, thanks to Hogan’s popularity. He had a big personality and people everywhere knew who he was.

In the 1990s, he became “Hollywood” Hogan and made a big impact again with the nWo. Triple H believes Hogan’s role in growing wrestling was very important and no one can ignore what he did for the business.

“Look, I think his contributions to sports entertainment, to WWE, can’t be measured, right? There’s arguments to be made that in the 80s, when Hulkamania runs wild, so to speak, in the WWE, that it launches this to a whole other level of mainstream popularity. WrestleMania I was a pop culture who’s who, right, of people you would have never thought would have been attached to pro wrestling—Andy Warhol and… you name it, right? His charisma, his character, he just became one of the biggest global icons.

Arguably, in that time in the mid 80s, one of the most recognizable people on the planet. Transcended what we do, transcended sports entertainment in a way that nobody had done before, was a household name, and then, you know, the business would carry on from there, and then he would do it again in the 90s with the nWo and becoming Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Just had a presence and a charisma and a character that could not be denied. And his contributions as a performer to this industry are second to none.”

Triple H stated that some people have different opinions about Hogan, but he can only talk about how Hogan treated him. Hogan was always nice and professional to him. He cared a lot about the business and was serious about his work, but still easy to work with.

The King of Kings said he had no bad experiences with the WWE Hall of Famer. Even if some people have mixed feelings, Hogan still made a big difference in wrestling.

“Look, you know, with anybody, there’s going to be criticisms of people, and, you know, I can’t state the human being at all aspects of his life. I can only talk about how he treated me, really. And he was always great to me. He was very business-minded, very steadfast in his beliefs of business, but was professional and easy to work with and, you know, a great person to be around. For me personally, for how he dealt with me, I don’t have anything negative to say. But I understand, for a lot of people, it’s complicated. But that does not take away from his contributions to an industry.”

As people in the wrestling world remember Hulk Hogan, Triple H’s words show how big of a role Hogan played in making wrestling what it is today. There will never be another Hulkster and that’s simply a fact now.
