JD McDonagh’s brutal landing during the January 27 edition of WWE RAW left fans concerned, and now more details have emerged about what happened behind the scenes.
According to Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan, Triple H personally checked on McDonagh multiple times after the match, making sure he was getting the necessary medical attention. WWE’s creative team was also made aware of his condition immediately, showing the level of concern within the company.
McDonagh initially brushed off the severity of the situation, finishing the World Tag Team Championship match alongside Dominik Mysterio against The War Raiders. However, it was later confirmed that he suffered multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung after a dangerous moonsault spot sent him crashing into the announce table.
After RAW went off the air, McDonagh was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. Adding some lightheartedness to the situation, Michael Hayes reportedly joked about whether the announce desk survived the impact. While McDonagh himself acknowledged things could have been worse, his recovery will sideline him for at least a couple of months.
JD McDonagh took a brutal hit, but it’s clear WWE is keeping a close eye on his recovery. With Triple H personally checking in multiple times and McDonagh toughing it out through the pain, there’s no doubt he’ll come back stronger than ever. The Judgment Day might have to adjust in his absence, but when he returns, expect McDonagh to remind everyone exactly why he’s one of the toughest competitors in WWE.
