Cody Rhodes has heard plenty of criticism throughout his career, including the tired “nepo baby” label—but Triple H is making it clear he doesn’t buy any of it.

While speaking on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Triple H strongly defended Rhodes and made it clear that whatever spot Cody holds in WWE right now, he earned it the hard way. Triple H first addressed the criticism head-on, brushing off people who have tried to reduce Cody’s success to where he came from instead of what he’s done.

“And I know we touched on it briefly, but the position that you’re in was not easy. And people will tell you s*** your whole career—‘nepo baby,’ or whatever. F*** them.”

He didn’t stop there. Triple H then laid out exactly why he believes Rhodes deserves his place at the top, praising the way Cody approaches every part of the job behind the scenes.

“You earned this, and then some. You are one of the most diligent guys in the locker room—wanting it to be right, with no stone unturned. You think about it nonstop. You’re so engaged in that, and it’s never really just about you—it’s about the company and the product as a whole, which makes you a dream to work with.”

Triple H then took it a step further by bringing up Rhodes’ decision to leave WWE, bet on himself, and build his value outside the company before returning as a bigger star.

“I don’t want to sound like I’m talking down to you, but I’m proud of you for gambling on yourself, taking that step that 99.9% of people wouldn’t do to get to where you are—and doing it in a way that every single step of the way you did it the right way, in a way that would make anybody, especially your dad, proud.”

That last part is what gives the quote real weight. Triple H isn’t just defending Cody’s talent—he’s framing Rhodes’ entire journey as proof that he earned everything the hard way, from leaving WWE to rebuilding himself and coming back as one of the company’s biggest stars.

For anyone still pushing the “nepo baby” label, Triple H’s message was pretty blunt: Cody Rhodes didn’t get handed this spot. He fought for it, built it, and made himself undeniable. That’s a strong public backing from one of the most powerful people in WWE—and it says a lot about how Rhodes is viewed internally.

Do you think Triple H is right about Cody Rhodes proving everyone wrong, or do you think the “nepo baby” criticism will always follow him no matter what he does? Drop your thoughts below and let us know.
