Saturday Night’s Main Event ended on a controversial note as John Cena tapped out to GUNTHER in his final WWE match. Despite a hard-fought performance—fighting off a sleeper hold and landing a signature Attitude Adjustment—Cena lost clean, and the crowd let WWE know exactly how they felt.

The chants of “bull***” rang through Capital One Arena, and fans relentlessly booed the finish. But Triple H addressed the backlash directly during the post-show, standing by the decision and breaking down why it happened.

“There are time-honored traditions in our business — and there are ways you handle your business. John has said the right thing his entire career — that it’s about leaving this place better than you found it.”

Triple H acknowledged that emotions were running high in the moment but made it clear that Cena’s choice was consistent with how he’s always conducted himself.

“There is no way for people to understand that in the moment. You do what is right for the business. You do what is right for the industry. John has done that his entire career. I’m going to do that for my entire career.”

The Game made it clear that putting over talent on the way out isn’t just a tradition—it’s Cena’s way of giving back to the business.

“If you want to talk behind the scenes, he will put over somebody on the way out. He will leave this better than he found it. He will go in the ring and make somebody on his way out. That’s what John does and has always done.”

And for those still upset about how it ended, Triple H didn’t back down as he said he got big shoulders and can deal with the criticism.

“I know people will criticize this and look at it and talk about this moment right here — I’ve got big shoulders. I’m good with it.”

Cena’s loss may have left fans absolutely shocked, but according to Triple H, it was the ultimate sign of respect—doing business the way Cena always has: by elevating someone else.

Love it or hate it, WWE made a choice that stuck to tradition. The Leader of Cenation went out putting someone over—and Triple H is standing by it, no matter how loud the boos get.
