Drew McIntyre’s social media presence has become a powerful force, marked by his sharp wit and ability to roast fellow wrestlers like CM Punk. He has cut several promos on Punk over the past few months and it appears Triple H altered one of his most infamous promos to avoid controversy.

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk’s feud began on the January 29 episode of Monday Night Raw. After Punk confirmed he would be out for several months due to a torn triceps, sustained during the Royal Rumble from a Futureshock DDT delivered by McIntyre.

The Scottish Warrior added fuel to the fire by taunting Punk, claiming he had prayed for Punk’s injury. This led to a brawl where McIntyre took Punk down, marking the start of their ongoing feud.

While speaking in an interview with Sam Roberts, McIntyre talked about the original promo intended for this storyline. He revealed that the initial version was more intense, but WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H intervened to tone it down to avoid offending anyone. McIntyre and Triple H adjusted the promo to strike a balance, ensuring it was impactful without crossing any lines.

“I actually went a step further, and between Triple H and I, we got it where we felt like we wouldn’t offend a lot of people. I had it a little further than that, and Triple H dialled me back slightly, and we landed there.”

Drew McIntyre defeated Punk at SummerSlam but their feud continued on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Regardless, we’ll have to see how the feud will be booked in the coming weeks, as there might be more heated promos in the future.
