Triple H has been running the ship in WWE for the past few years as the Head of Creative and the company tries to ensure all its long-term storylines go off without a hitch. With that said, it appears Triple H is allegedly rewriting WWE storylines to catch internal leaks.
While speaking on Lucha Libre Online, Hugo Savinovich talked about Jey Uso losing the World Title and questioned why it didn’t happen at Night of Champions. He wondered why WWE didn’t see Jey Uso as a big enough star to defend the title in Saudi Arabia, a place known for spending big money on top stars like Cristiano Ronaldo. He asked why Jey Uso wasn’t seen as good enough and why the title was taken from him so fast.
“Another thing: the Night of Champions event. Was Jey not seen as a big enough draw to defend the title there? In Saudi Arabia, a country with the money to buy Cristiano Ronaldo, the best of everything in sports and business… why wasn’t Jey Uso good enough? Why did the title change hands like that?”
Savinovich mentioned that the fan backlash might be making Triple H reconsider some of his choices. He added that Triple H has said he doesn’t like when people try to mess with his creative plans.
Savinovich then claimed that Triple H has been changing storylines to figure out who’s leaking info online. To stop spoilers, WWE now keeps major storylines very secret, sometimes only the creative lead and the two wrestlers know what’s really going on. Sometimes things are even changed just 10 minutes before the show starts, with Triple H giving last-minute instructions.
“Maybe now, with all the backlash, Triple H is rethinking things. But he’s also the one who has said—‘I’m the one in charge. I don’t like when people try to hijack my creative plans.’ He’s been rewriting storylines to see who’s leaking information to the internet. It bothers Triple H and Nick Khan that social media is catching onto plans more easily. Now, the biggest angles are kept ultra-secret—maybe only the creative lead and the two wrestlers know. Things are even changed 10 minutes before going live. Triple H is in Gorilla saying, ‘Follow my lead now.’”
Hugo said he understands wanting to keep surprises safe, but he also thinks the current creative ideas haven’t been very strong. He said everyone knows The Usos are amazing as a tag team.
Savinovich said that even if Jey Uso had problems connecting with platforms like Netflix or social media, it’s possible someone behind the scenes didn’t want him to succeed and may have orchestrated a negative campaign against Uso, despite him being one of WWE’s most popular babyfaces.
“And I don’t blame him. You want to control information to keep the surprise alive. But let’s be honest—the creative has been weak. Nobody questions The Usos as a tag team—they’re incredible. But even if Jey had issues connecting with Netflix or social media platforms, maybe—just maybe—someone orchestrated a negative campaign against one of the most beloved babyfaces of our time.”
As for Jey Uso’s current future, it’s currently in question following his shocking loss to the Ring General. Therefore, we’ll have to see what’s next in store for Jey Uso but Savinovich’s claim about Triple H rewriting WWE storylines has certainly got fans talking.
