Trick Williams walked into the 2024 WWE NXT Heatwave in perhaps one of the biggest matches of his NXT career and decided to make it extra special by following the theme and paying homage to an iconic tag team.
The current NXT Champion was slated to defend his coveted championship in a Fatal 4-Way match against Shawn Spears, “All Ego” Ethan Page and his close friend, the young and dynamic Je’Von Evans.
As the master of the Whoop that Trick walked into the Scotiabank arena, he was seen donning white ring gear with flames designs on his trunks and boots, which seemed familiar to many hardcore wrestling fans.
Interestingly, Williams’ gear was a tribute to the theme of NXT Heatwave and the glorious tag team, Harlem Heat, comprising WWE Hall of Famers Booker T, who was also on the commentary desk calling the action and his brother, Stevie Ray.
However, the night did not end well for Williams. After he connected with a Trick Shot on Ethan Page, he landed straight on a fallen Je’Von Evans. This led to the referee counting the pinfall, while Trick was stopped from breaking it by Shawn Spears, losing his title to Page in the process.
What are your thoughts on Trick Williams paying homage to the NXT Heatwave and Harlem Heat at WWE NXT Heatwave 2024? Are you upset that he lost the NXT Title to Ethan Page? Sound off in the comments!
