Trick Williams Joins WWE SmackDown Roster and Sets Sights on World Title

WWE SmackDown’s January 2, 2026 episode went down at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. This was a big night for the blue brand, and they needed another face to fill the three-hour show.

This week on SmackDown, Sami Zayn came out to make a bold declaration. He said that he will become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Then he was rudly interrupted.

Trick Williams’ music hit, and he made his way out. Fans chanted “Whoop That Trick!” in full force before Williams announced that he has arrived.

After that rousing introduction, Trick Williams announced that he has arrived. He went over a few of his nicknames, and then he revealed how charismatic he is. Williams said that Nick Aldis called him, and he was needed on the blue brand.

Trick Williams then said that he’s on SmackDown to be World Champion. Williams then said that he and Sami Zayn are not alike, because he will get the job done and win the title.

We will have to see what Trick Williams brings to SmackDown. This was certainly a big debut for the former two-time NXT Champion. It seems that he’s starting 2026 in a big way.
