Trick Williams has worked under two of WWE’s most influential figures during his rise through the company — Shawn Michaels in NXT and Triple H on the main roster. According to Williams, the two legends approach leadership very differently, and the reason comes down to the level of talent they’re working with.

During an appearance on My Mom’s Basement, Williams was asked about the contrast between Michaels running WWE’s developmental brand and Triple H overseeing Raw and SmackDown. While he praised both men, he explained that the environment in NXT requires a more hands-on style.

“Oh man, that's… I think both are great in their own right. I mean, Shawn Michaels has to babysit a little bit more because NXT is younger talent, newer talent who's still trying to figure out their way in the business. So, he has to be hands-on and probably, you know, like I said, babysit way more.”

Williams made it clear that Michaels’ role involves guiding talent that is still learning how the business works and how to develop their characters inside WWE. Once talent reaches the main roster, however, Williams said the expectation changes completely. That’s where Triple H comes in.

“Where Triple H is awesome. He's just kind of… he sit back and sees who you are. He decides how he wants to present you. So he's more doing the polishing and, you know, the brushing up on like… at this point SmackDown, Raw, you supposed to be a pro. Like yeah, this is the big leagues.”

Instead of teaching the fundamentals, Williams said Triple H focuses on refining established talent and positioning them to succeed on WWE’s biggest stage.

“So then he's not babysitting, you know, he's making you a star to the next level.”

Williams’ comments provide insight into how WWE’s system works from the inside. NXT serves as the training ground where talent is molded and developed, while the main roster is where performers are expected to deliver at a much higher level with less hands-on guidance.

Do you think Shawn Michaels’ developmental approach or Triple H’s main roster style is more important to building WWE’s next generation of stars? Let us know what you think and leave your feedback in the comments.
