Trick Williams may have walked out of WWE NXT with the TNA World Title still around his waist, but he swears he had nothing to do with the interference that helped him retain it.

After AJ Francis and KC Navarro—now going by First Class—ambushed Mike Santana during the June 3 main event, fans instantly called foul. But Trick is now setting the record straight during his appearance on the Battleground Podcast, and he insists the assist was a total surprise.

“Yeah, I don’t know where they came from. I even found out on Twitter last night.”

According to Trick, he had no clue AJ Francis or Navarro would get involved. And when the hosts pressed him on whether it undermined his win, Trick flipped the narrative.

“Hey, look. I thought it was funny. Everybody talking about, ‘Oh, Top Dolla helped him. AJ Francis helped him.’ Ain’t nobody say nothing when Elijah hopped over the barricade to try to hit me with the guitar.”

The champ then fired back at critics calling him a cheater, claiming it’s not about dirty tactics—it’s about being smart enough to stay one step ahead.

“It’s so one-sided because I’m smart enough and athletic enough to get out the way when Elijah comes at me. Mike Santana ain’t smart enough to get out the way when people come at him. Oh, Trick cheated. No. Trick is smarter and an athlete. Mike Santana need to work on his cardio.”

Whether Trick truly didn’t know First Class was coming to his rescue or he’s just playing it cool, one thing’s for sure—he’s not apologizing for how things went down. And with Elijah gunning for him at TNA Against All Odds, the target on his back just got bigger.
