TNA World Champion Trick Williams isn’t ducking the pressure—he’s embracing it, and now he’s coming for a legend.
Just days before he defends his title at Slammiversary 2025, Trick doubled down on his claim to be the greatest TNA Champion ever and used that momentum to call out none other than AJ Styles.
During a new interview with WhatCulture Wrestling, Trick was asked which past TNA World Champion he’d want to face. Fans in Atlanta had already made their voices heard earlier in the week by chanting AJ Styles during one of Trick’s promos. Rather than ignore it, Trick took that moment and flipped it into a full-blown challenge.
“Man, honestly, man, you know, I went out there on Tuesday and I made a bold statement and I meant what I said. I said that I am the greatest Trick-N-TNA champion of all time. And we were in Atlanta—I’m still in Atlanta—and the crowd chanted AJ Styles. The audacity. AJ Styles.”
He kept going, firing back at critics who say he doesn’t respect the legacy of the title he now carries:
“But you know, I thought about it. Wow. Wouldn’t that be amazing? You know what I mean? Since the word around town is Trick Williams does not respect this title, which I am defending on two different shows, which I am increasing this viewership, which I am doing exactly what I’m supposed to do, which I rightfully claim that I am the best TNA champion of all time. If anybody who they perceive to be someone who actually does honor and respect TNA, it’s probably AJ Styles. So, why don’t we book that? I mean, I think that’s the most opponent for someone like myself.”
Later in the interview, Trick circled back to the challenge while discussing who could step up next after his triple threat title match at Slammiversary. He didn’t hesitate to name Styles again, alongside other TNA veterans.
“We already hit on the one that I want. AJ Styles. That’s the one… If somebody wanna take the Trick N A away, I mean, he’s the guy who I think people would respect the most… Let’s book that.”
Then he laid down the dream match with one final mic drop:
“Trick Williams, the greatest TNA World Champion of all time, versus AJ Styles, the greatest TNA World Champion of all time. Let’s book that one.”
With Slammiversary just days away and TNA President Carlos Silva already promising the company’s greatest achievement, the idea of Trick vs. AJ is the kind of fantasy booking that could turn into reality. Fans are already losing it over the possibility—and now the ball might be in AJ Styles’ court.
