Fans were shocked at the WWE Elimination Chamber when John Cena turned heel and teamed up with The Rock. Rapper Travis Scott was involved in the shocking moment, but he legitimately injured Cody Rhodes after bursting his eardrum, and now it appears Scott has been heavily criticized for his actions.

While speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, Stevie Richards believes Scott took all the attention away from what really mattered, focusing on himself instead of the main event at WrestleMania 41. He said Scott didn’t understand how much skill and effort it takes to wrestle safely.

“Travis Scott split focus. Travis Scott took all the attention away from the most important thing going into the main event of WrestleMania 41—not 42. And I don’t even remember what he did outside of trying to ruin the main event.”

According to Richards, if Scott had any understanding of wrestling or respect for the business, he would have known it wasn’t about him. Instead, Scott was only trying to make himself look strong, without caring about Cody Rhodes or the match. Richards also said most wrestling fans, especially in England, don’t care about Scott’s involvement in WWE.

“I think Travis Scott got into this thinking, ‘This is so easy, this is so cool.’ He underestimated the amount of thought and effort that goes into not hurting somebody and making things make sense. If he had any direction, production insight, or even basic psychology—or just common courtesy—he would have said, ‘This is not about me. I’m just lucky enough to be in the ring with this.’ But we didn’t get that. This was Travis Scott—I’m not going to say the curse word, but he was just trying to get his stuff in. He didn’t care about anything except telling people, ‘Oh look, I beat up Cody.’

Travis Scott, nobody cares about you. Trust me, nobody in England who listens to music cares about you—maybe some people in the United States, but no wrestling fan gives a damn about what Travis Scott has to do with the wrestling business.”

Richards accused Travis Scott of being selfish and taking advantage of Cody Rhodes. He said that after the show ended, he wished Cody had gotten up and beaten up Scott to teach him a lesson.

“You were arrogant, reckless, selfish, and, dare I say, you took advantage of Cody. What should have happened—what I wish would have happened—is that after we went off the air, Cody got up and started beating the shit out of Travis Scott. Kicking him in the ear, punching him in the face, and teaching him a lesson he would never forget.”

Richards also talked about how serious a perforated eardrum can be. He revealed that Gail Kim once accidentally hit him in the ear, causing balance issues, migraines, and vertigo, which made it hard to wrestle and stated that it’s not a joke at all.

“Now, I want to let everybody know—having a perforated eardrum, a burst eardrum, a popped eardrum, whatever you want to call it—it’s no joke. I’ve had one of these from being slapped by Gail Kim. She accidentally caught me in the ear, and let me tell you, it’s no joke. Your equilibrium is off. It’s like having vertigo. Sometimes, you’re not even able to wrestle, much less take bumps and do everything else. And hearing loss? That’s just the beginning of it. Your coordination is thrown off, your balance is off, you get migraines—it can even induce vertigo, which is absolutely no joke.”

At the end, Richards stated that to Travis Scott it was all a joke. He pointed out that Scott pushed Cody Rhode’s face into the mat so hard that he couldn’t even move. Richards said this was a cheap move and showed that Scott didn’t care about anyone but himself. He finished by calling Scott an “a******” for his unprofessional behavior.

“To Travis Scott, this is a joke. ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna zoom in on that now.’ But here’s the thing—Cody’s pinned down, face against the mat. He’s pressing him down even more, to the point where if Cody were slapped, he wouldn’t even be able to turn to a standing position. There’s nowhere for Cody to go. What an asshole. I mean, what a jerk move to pull. Travis Scott, you’re an a*******.”

WWE has considered booking Travis Scott for future matches, as he has been training for in-ring competition and the rapper himself made it clear he caught the wrestling bug wand really wants to wrestle. Therefore, it’s clear fans will be seeing more of Scott in the future, for better or for worse.
