Vince Steele’s shocking passing during a Brii Combination Wrestling event has left the wrestling world reeling, and new details have now emerged about what happened in his final moments.
According to PWInsider, Steele was in the middle of a four-way match against Jeff Skywalker, Max Capacity, and Benny Blanco when he collapsed in the corner of the ring. The referee immediately called for the bell as another CPR-certified referee rushed into the ring to assist. BCW officials quickly called 911, and while police arrived “within minutes” to take over CPR efforts, an ambulance didn’t arrive for 23 minutes.
A defibrillator was used as medical personnel fought to save Steele’s life, but he was eventually transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
BCW has since released an official statement, confirming Steele suffered a fatal heart attack during the March 16 event, Madness at the Mecca. The promotion expressed its devastation over losing a beloved locker room leader and vowed to share memorial and fundraising details in the coming days. BCW’s statement read:
“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that BCW (Brii Combination Wrestling) confirms the passing of Vince Steele, who suffered a fatal heart attack during our event on March 16, 2025.
“Vince was more than just a wrestler; he was a beloved member of our family, a mentor, and an inspiration to everyone in the locker room and beyond. His towering presence, both physically and emotionally, made him a cornerstone of BCW, and his contributions to the industry will never be forgotten.”
“This is an unimaginable loss for his family, friends, fans, and all of us at BCW. At this time, we ask for privacy and respect as we process this tragedy.”
BCW canceled the remainder of the event following Steele’s collapse, allowing fans to leave while the locker room stayed behind to await updates. When news of his passing was confirmed, fellow wrestlers went to the hospital to pay their respects. Steele is survived by several children, and fundraising efforts to support his family will be announced soon.
