Torrie Wilson is looking back at one of the most infamous storylines of her WWE career — and she’s finally telling the full story of what it was like behind the scenes with Dawn Marie and her real‑life father, Al Wilson.

During an interview with The Wrestling Classic, Torrie revealed that the entire storyline was pitched directly by Paul Heyman and that she initially had the choice to bring in an actor. Instead, she made the decision to use her real father because she thought it would be a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience for him.

“Paul Heyman actually… that was his idea. I know him and Dawn Marie were really close. She had come over from ECW, and oddly enough, I was in Idaho visiting my dad when I got the call from Paul Heyman. He was just like, ‘I have this storyline idea. We can totally get an actor to play your dad if you want, but if you want your dad to be in the storyline, we’re happy to use him too.’ And I was like— I mean, I didn’t think twice about it, ’cause I was like, what a cool experience for my dad to have.”

She reflected on that decision years later with a mix of gratitude and embarrassment over some of the awkward moments it created.

“Now that he’s not with us anymore, I’m so glad we had that time.”

One of those awkward moments came when her father approached Vince McMahon for a ride.

“He asked Vince [McMahon] for a ride to the building one day from the hotel. I was always worried that he was going to do all the wrong things… I was mortified.”

Torrie also talked about the infamous hotel segment with Dawn Marie, where the two shared a kiss. She admitted she was far from comfortable filming that scene.

“I still… like, I do remember I was very uncomfortable with kissing Dawn Marie. And I do remember, like, I think we had champagne or something there, and I was like trying to like numb my senses a little bit.”

Today, Torrie says she’s able to laugh at those moments even though she once wanted to avoid them entirely when they resurfaced online.

“Back then it seemed normal… now thanks to Instagram, some of the stuff that I did in the past like creeps up on me in my feed and I’m like, ‘Whoa, Nelly, what did you do?’”

“For a long time I didn’t really want to even see it—I was kind of mortified. But now I’m kind of in on the joke and I just appreciate it for what it was.”

Torrie Wilson isn’t holding back, and her raw honesty proves that not everything was as glamorous as it looked on screen. From awkward kisses to her dad asking Vince McMahon for a ride, she lived through some of the most outrageous moments in WWE history—moments that fans still talk about today. And now, she’s finally owning it all with zero shame and a whole lot of perspective.
