Torrie Wilson didn’t hold back when it came to revisiting one of the most controversial eras in WWE history — and her role right in the middle of it.

During her interview with The Wrestling Classic, Torrie opened up about the bra and panties matches that defined her run during WWE’s Divas era, as well as what it really felt like to walk into WrestleMania 20 for a lingerie-themed tag match.

When asked about the infamous bikini contest segment at Judgment Day 2003, where she and Sable pushed the limits of TV standards, Torrie compared it to a literal nightmare.

“It’s like that nightmare where you wake up in the middle of the night and you’re at school naked.”

She then revealed WWE originally wanted her to go even further — but she put her foot down and negotiated a different route.

“Believe it or not… I negotiated that swimsuit from paint. They wanted me to do paint, and I was like, I’ll do crystals.”

“I don’t know how I did that yet.”

Despite the provocative nature of her segments at the time, Torrie was proud to be part of WrestleMania 20, where she teamed with Sable in a nightgown match against Stacy Keibler and Miss Jackie. She made it clear that getting on the WrestleMania card meant everything.

“Just to even be on the show at WrestleMania is a big deal… back then when it was one night, there’s a lot of people that don’t get that opportunity.”

But like many women in that era, Torrie faced serious time constraints — sometimes getting word of cuts just minutes before showtime.

“We would be like waiting in Gorilla about to go out, and they’d be like, ‘Girls, your match just got cut from 8 minutes to 4.’”

“And that’s including entrances, which is crazy.”

Torrie’s experience during WWE’s sexed-up TV era is a reminder of how different the landscape used to be — and just how much pressure the women faced to deliver with very little support or time.

Torrie Wilson walked so the next generation could run, and her memories from that time are both eye-opening and brutally honest.
