AEW’s beloved broadcaster Tony Schiavone has been dealing with a rough start to 2025, thanks to an unexpected dental disaster.
The veteran commentator recently revealed on his What Happened When podcast that he broke a tooth and had to undergo a painful extraction, followed by an implant procedure.
“I’m doing okay. It’s kind of been a rough 2025 for an old guy. The older you get, the more things happen. I do want to advise everyone that I had a broken tooth, and I had to get it pulled, and I’m getting an implant in. I just had my, after spending a month with these months stuck up in my chin or my jawline, they finally healed, and now they put the post in. It’s swollen right now. I’ve had this flipper in, and it’s really uncomfortable now. I’ve been able to get away with it on TV. I’m not so sure I can get away with it this week, with the flipper. I’m not so sure how great it’s going to sound. I may have a lisp,” Schiavone explained.
The real kicker? The culprit behind this painful ordeal wasn’t some wild accident or botched move—it was a Kind bar.
“I bit into a Kind bar, and it broke. A Kind bar, that’s how. It was not kind to me. I will never eat a Kind bar again,” he admitted.
Schiavone is pushing through the discomfort and still appearing on AEW programming, but his ongoing recovery might make things a little tricky on commentary. Whether fans will notice a difference in his voice remains to be seen, but the AEW veteran isn’t letting it keep him down.
