AEW President Tony Khan spoke with the wrestling media on Thursday, September 18, 2025, to promote Saturday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view.
Khan noted this will be the first time All Out is held in the afternoon and the first AEW pay-per-view available for purchase on HBO Max.
When asked about the AEW Women’s Championship four-way. Khan pointed out that Jamie Hayter is back in the mix with Toni Storm, while Thekla is getting her first title shot and Kris Statlander is returning to the title picture for the first time in four years. Khan added that Storm may be the best champion in pro wrestling.
When asked about reaching more families who may feel priced out, Tony Khan said AEW has always tried to keep ticket prices affordable.
He was also asked about running a major event in spring 2027, the same time WrestleMania will be in Saudi Arabia, with fans hoping independent promotions could still run shows around an AEW event. Khan confirmed he does plan to hold a big show that spring. He talked about the history of AEW Revolution and said he believes Revolution can become one of the biggest events in pro wrestling.
Khan was asked about the All Out pre-show being simulcast on TNT and HBO Max. He called it a great opportunity and said he hopes AEW can do more of that in the future.
When asked about the idea of running the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Khan said he’s been there and would love to someday, but he’s happy with holding All Out at Scotiabank Arena.
On breaking the tradition of running All Out in Chicago, Khan explained it came down to routing and noted that December’s Worlds End will take place in Chicago. He added that AEW will continue to run plenty of big events in the city.
When asked about Eddie Kingston’s return at All Out, Tony Khan talked about his match with Big Bill, calling it a big opportunity for Bill.
Khan was also asked about Brody King wearing an “Abolish ICE” shirt and whether AEW is more welcoming to fans who lean left politically, while WWE has ties to the Trump administration. Khan said AEW lets wrestlers present their authentic selves, pointing to King and Hangman Page as examples. He added that AEW is a wrestling company that wants fans from all backgrounds and perspectives, saying wrestling brings people together. Khan recalled attending ECW Arena as a kid, noting that his father came from a different background than most of the fans there.
Tony Khan said he felt moving AEW All Out’s start time to the afternoon was the best decision for wrestling fans. He explained that AEW is always looking at the overall landscape to figure out what works best for both the company and its audience. Khan noted they’ve had strong commercial success with afternoon events this summer and expect All Out to deliver the same results.
When asked for an update on Wardlow, Tony Khan said some reports about him were true while others were not. He criticized the person spreading false information, saying they should get out of the wrestling business.
Khan clarified that Wardlow was never scheduled to challenge for the AEW World Championship at All Out before his injury, though he did have big plans for him. He compared the misinformation to what sometimes happens in sports.
Khan said he was devastated by Wardlow’s injury and feels terrible for him, but he’s excited about his eventual return. He noted that Wardlow filmed American Gladiators before getting hurt and expects his AEW comeback to line up with the show’s launch on Amazon Prime. Khan stressed that Kyle Fletcher was always the planned challenger for All Out.
When asked what he expects from Riho in her return at All Out, Tony Khan said she has been part of AEW since the beginning and reminded everyone she was the company’s first Women’s Champion.
Khan wrapped up the media call by noting he will hold a post-show scrum after All Out on Saturday.
