Adam Cole is currently out of the ring due to concussion issues that have left him medically unable to compete, forcing him to step away from wrestling and vacate the TNT Championship. Now we are waiting for his return, and Tony Khan isn’t losing hope at all.

The former NXT Champion was scheduled to wrestle at AEW All In: Texas but was pulled after failing to get clearance, despite wrestling days earlier. This is not his first major concussion, and his history of head injuries has raised concerns about long-term health and the possibility of retirement.

While speaking to the Ariel Helwani Show, Tony Khan was asked about Adam Cole’s status. Although Cole is dealing with a head injury, the fact is that Khan is very positive that Mr. Bay-Bay will wrestle for them again.

“That’s hard, that’s hard. Adam Cole, I love him so much. Not only is he a great wrestler, but he’s also a great friend. It was very, very hard when I got the phone call the morning of All In: Texas that Adam Cole was not feeling well. He’s had injuries, and it’s no secret that some of the injuries he’s experienced have been head injuries, and it was terrible when Adam Cole had the ankle injury, and when he needed time to recover, it’s just that you don’t want to see him in so much pain, but that alone could have been a career-ending injury, but he was out for over a year, and he came back from that, and he was wrestling at such a high level. I was really excited about what Adam Cole had done in 2025 to work his way into a top position and become TNT Champion. It was a great comeback story, and I’m just glad that he was able to tell us when he didn’t feel good about wrestling anymore.”

When asked if Adam Cole will wrestle again, Tony Khan didn’t shut it down. That being said, there are many roles open in AEW to Cole in case he wants to come back in some respect.

“I think it would have to be the right situation for Adam to wrestle again. I think it’s, at least possible, for us to keep Adam as part of the family, but I want to get to where he feels good about travelling again. I’ve been open with him that when he’s ready, there’s always a role in AEW for him. He’s been a commentator at times, a host of the shows, he’s a great talent he could be involved in a lot of things, and if he ever did want to wrestle again and it was the right situation and everyone could wrap their heads around it, so to speak, it would make a lot of sense. Anything involving head injuries or serious injuries, I always want to look at it and evaluate it to see if it makes sense and if we can do it safely where it’s gonna be a good outcome for everyone.”

Adam Cole nearly retired due to concussions. His size was also later blamed for his injury situation. Tony Khan doesn’t seem to think that Cole is done with AEW, so that’s a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

Adam Cole has said he needs time to focus on his health and is not ready to discuss retirement, but the option remains on the table, leaving his in-ring future uncertain.
