The potential merger between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global has led to a lot of discussion about what it could mean for AEW — but AEW President Tony Khan doesn’t seem worried at all.

During the AEW Revolution media call on March 12, 2026, Khan addressed speculation that the potential media shake-up could put AEW’s television future in jeopardy. Instead of sounding concerned, Khan framed the possible Paramount–WBD partnership as a huge opportunity for the company moving forward.

According to Khan, AEW already has a strong working relationship with the leadership involved, and he expects the promotion to remain part of the network group that currently airs AEW programming on TNT, TBS, and HBO Max for a long time to come. Rather than seeing Paramount entering the mix as a threat, Khan believes the merger could actually bring new viewers to AEW while also adding new technological resources that could help grow the promotion’s reach.

Khan also hinted that being part of a larger media ecosystem could create interesting crossover opportunities. He specifically noted that the idea of sharing network space with major sports properties — including the UFC — would be something he’d welcome, especially given his positive relationship with UFC president Dana White.

Khan also pointed to the broader benefits of being part of a larger media platform. He specifically noted that the possibility of AEW being connected to a platform that carries the NFL is exciting, as it could expose the wrestling promotion to an even bigger audience.

The comments come after Eric Bischoff recently suggested that large media mergers can sometimes spell trouble for wrestling shows if networks decide to reshape their programming identity. Bischoff argued that wrestling’s hybrid style — sitting somewhere between sports and entertainment — can make it vulnerable when networks change direction.

Khan clearly sees things differently. From his perspective, the potential partnership isn’t a red flag — it’s a chance for AEW to grow even bigger. Whether that optimism ends up paying off remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear: Khan isn’t losing any sleep over the media shake-up.

Do you think a Paramount–WBD deal would help AEW expand its audience, or could it create problems for the company down the road? Let us know your thoughts.
