Beth Phoenix shocked the wrestling world last month when she appeared at AEW All Out, joining her husband Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in their match against FTR. The three-time WWE Women’s Champion helped Copeland and Cage secure the win in Toronto, marking her first-ever AEW appearance.
After the match, AEW President Tony Khan spoke with The Sportster to give his take on “The Glamazon” stepping into an AEW storyline. While he praised Beth’s involvement, Khan stopped short of confirming if fans would see her on-screen again anytime soon.
“I loved having Beth participate in AEW. She was fantastic … I was excited to have her be a part of this event. I was excited to have her celebrate such a great night for her family. For Adam Copeland to go in front of his hometown fans in Toronto and for Adam Copeland to get a chance to not only reunite with his childhood friend, his longtime friend and longtime partner, and it had also been a long time since they had teamed.”
Khan added that having Beth there was just as special for him as it was for the Copeland family.
“What should have been a great moment for Adam Copeland to celebrate with his wife and for the Copeland family, I was so happy to have Beth Copeland there. I was really glad she participated in AEW All Out.”
But the celebration didn’t last long. Despite Copeland and Cage’s victory, FTR’s Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood viciously attacked Beth while her husband was handcuffed to the ropes after the match. On the following Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Copeland announced he would be stepping away from the ring temporarily to take care of his family after the incident.
Beth Phoenix’s AEW debut has left fans wondering if this was a one-time moment or the beginning of something bigger for “The Glamazon.”
