Tony Khan isn’t just focused on what MJF has already accomplished—he’s already got his eyes on the next batch of AEW’s breakout stars. But don’t get it twisted: he’s not trying to replace MJF.

In a new interview with Adam’s Apple, Khan was asked who he believes could be the “next MJF,” in the same way people once asked WWE who the next Rock or Cena would be. Instead of speculating on fantasy comparisons, Khan pointed to real names who are already making big moves early in their careers.

Kyle Fletcher is a TNT Champion at a very young age and doing incredible things. People forget because Timeless Toni Storm is somebody whose persona has been around for many, many decades, but Timeless Toni Storm is still a very young woman herself… and you know there’s great young wrestlers and these are top people in the profession right now. But there’s a lot of great young stars coming up in AEW and Ring of Honor that are really impressive… really impressive young wrestlers at young ages, but we’ve had some really really great champions that have been in their 20s and MJF’s a great example of that. Somebody that came in and succeeded at the highest level and continues to, and MJF’s in his 20s.

The message was clear: AEW isn’t waiting around for one savior. MJF is still very much in his prime, but there’s a new generation that’s already delivering. And Khan seems confident that the company’s future is in good hands with people like Fletcher and Storm stepping up in major ways.

AEW has built its brand on a mix of homegrown talent and veteran names, but Tony Khan clearly sees longevity in the younger generation who’ve already proven they can carry championship gold—and the spotlight that comes with it.
