AEW might not be done growing its pay-per-view calendar just yet.
Tony Khan has expanded AEW’s PPV output from the original four events per year to nine—a big jump that’s helped fuel storylines and revenue alike. But in a new interview featured in The Hollywood Reporter, Khan suggested that number might not be final.
While discussing AEW Dynamite officially surpassing WCW Monday Nitro in episode count, Khan also addressed the current state of AEW’s PPV strategy and hinted at possibly adding one more to the mix.
“Nine is a great number,” Khan said, referring to AEW’s current annual count of pay-per-view events. Still, he didn’t rule out the idea of expanding to ten shows per year. “I could see it going up to 10,” Khan added.
For comparison, WWE is scheduled to run 17 “Premium Live Events” in 2025, nearly double AEW’s count. But Khan appears content with AEW’s more spaced-out approach, saying it gives weekly programming like Dynamite time to build toward meaningful payoffs.
AEW just wrapped up its Dynasty pay-per-view on April 6 and will be back on PPV on May 25 for Double or Nothing—one of the company’s original flagship events.
