AEW’s move to the Max streaming platform is still in the works, but Tony Khan is making it clear that the plan hasn’t changed.

During a media call ahead of AEW Revolution, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter asked Khan about the timeline for AEW pay-per-views landing on Max. While there’s no exact launch date yet, Khan remains confident that the transition is happening.

“Max is still going to be a great home to AEW pay-per-view,” Khan said. “It’s not a technology that has been part of the Max service previously, before AEW landed on this great platform. We’re very excited to have AEW TV streaming on Max every week. I can’t wait to have the upcoming AEW pay-per-views there in the future.”

Right now, fans can stream past AEW Revolution events on Max, but purchasing future pay-per-views through the platform is still in development. Khan explained that Warner Bros. Discovery is actively working on making it happen. “I know they are working on developing that tech in the platform because it’s not something Max has ever offered before.”

In the meantime, AEW has locked in a massive deal with Amazon Prime to sell pay-per-views, including AEW Revolution. Khan sees this as a huge step forward, saying, “To be on one of the largest streaming services to sell our pay-per-views, that’s huge.”

Even with the Amazon deal, Max is still positioned as AEW’s long-term streaming home. “Max will be the home for all of AEW in the future, and we’ll continue to work with great media companies,” Khan assured. He also pointed out the success Warner Bros. Discovery has seen with streaming bundles, mentioning that the Disney-Max bundle has been “the stickiest package in all of streaming.”

AEW is clearly expanding its reach, and Khan’s confidence in these streaming partnerships makes it clear that big things are coming.
