Tony Khan thinks highly of the All In: Texas pay-per-view but now he’s claimed that his longtime friend felt the event had the best payoff to long-term stories since WrestleMania 3.

While speaking to Q101, Tony Khan talked about AEW All In: Texas and shared how his friend Todd reacted to the event. Khan called it their big success story and said it was also simply the best wrestling show they could have delivered. Khan says Todd was actually the first person to introduce Tony to the idea of running weekly shows back in the Aragon Brawl Room days and gave him the highest praise.

“It was our big success story, but also just the best wrestling show we could have put on. I got the highest praise from my friend Todd, who I also mentioned earlier, the person who first coined the idea in my world of doing weekly shows week to week to week in the Aragon Brawl Room.”

Todd told Tony Khan it was the best wrestling show he’d ever seen when it came to building up stories for a big event. He wasn’t just comparing it to AEW’s competition now, but even looking back to 1987.

At that time, Tony Khan was only four years old and hadn’t even become a wrestling fan yet. Meanwhile Todd, who is about five years older, was already watching wrestling and that period was a huge part of his childhood. Khan believes that’s likely why he holds shows from back then in such high regard.

“He said he thought it was the best wrestling show he’s seen in terms of having a big event where all the stories built to something. And this is talking about the competition too, but also going back frankly to 1987. I was four years old at the time, I hadn’t even seen wrestling yet, I was a couple years away from becoming a fan at seven.

But he was watching, he’s about five years older than me, and that was his big childhood event. Maybe that’s why he holds it in such high esteem, but I give it a lot of credit because it was a major event where the story all built up.”

Khan says his friend Todd felt that every match on the All In Texas card delivered a great payoff. Even if the wrestling style was different compared to the old days, he thought it was the best culmination of stories since WrestleMania 3 in 1987.

Khan was blown away by that, especially knowing how much wrestling Todd has watched over the years. He took it as the ultimate compliment from someone who has followed the business closely for decades. In the end, Tony just summed it up by saying All In: Texas was truly a great show.

“He said he thought it was the best show in terms of every match feeling like a great payoff, even if maybe the quality of the wrestling was different because the business was different then. He said he thought it was the best payoff of all the stories since WrestleMania 3 in 1987. Incredible.

I was like, wow, especially knowing him, that’s the highest praise. I thought that was really cool. That’s high praise from somebody who’s watched all the wrestling going back to 1987. Yeah, absolutely. All In Texas, great show.”

It’s clear Tony Khan views All In: Texas as one of AEW’s proudest moments, and hearing it compared to WrestleMania 3 is the ultimate compliment, since that’s all that really matters to Khan in the end.
