The Young Bucks have not been seen on AEW television since losing the AEW Tag Team Titles to Private Party on AEW Fright Night Dynamite last year. They were also not present on the card for AEW Revolution, and now Tony Khan has addressed their absence.

While speaking on Collider, AEW President Tony Khan was asked why he didn’t book The Young Bucks to be on the Revolution pay-per-view despite the event taking place in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena.

Khan explained that they have been busy wrestling in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where they won the IWGP World Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. Khan praised them as one of the best tag teams in the world and a key part of AEW. He wasn’t surprised by their success in Japan since they’ve won titles all over the world.

“The [Young] Bucks have been competing in New Japan Pro Wrestling and have had a lot of success. They’ve made headlines capturing the IWGP World Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, and we’ve seen the Young Bucks dominate tag team competition in Japan, and they’re one of the best tag teams in the world, and they are AEW originals. I think, certainly, their accolades this year in Japan are no surprise; the Young Bucks are one of the greatest tag teams of all time, so to see them capturing gold in Japan was not unexpected. They’ve captured tag team championships all over the world, and they’re one of the greatest teams in wrestling and one of the greatest teams ever in AEW and would be in the conversation with some of the greatest tag teams of all time in my opinion.”

Matthew and Nicholas Jackson captured the titles at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, 2025, defeating Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb and Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito. However, their reign came to an abrupt end at The New Beginning on February 11, when Naito and Takahashi ended up beating them for the titles.

The Young Bucks were present backstage during the most recent AEW show in Oceanside, CA, making it clear they are close to a return. With AEW Revolution set to take place on March 9th, we will have to wait and see whether they will make their return during the event.
