Mercedes Moné’s recent run has taken a dramatic turn after dropping multiple championships across the independent scene, and now AEW President Tony Khan has weighed in on when fans can expect to see her back.

Not long ago, Moné was holding championship gold across several promotions around the world, cementing her reputation as one of wrestling’s most decorated active champions. That momentum slowed in recent months after she dropped multiple titles internationally and later vacated the APAC Women’s Championship due to travel and logistical issues overseas. With Moné suddenly without championship gold and absent from AEW television, questions quickly surfaced about her future and when she might return to the company.

During a recent conversation with Jason Hall, Tony Khan was asked directly about Moné’s status after her recent setbacks and lack of appearances on AEW programming. The question came as her once-dominant championship run came to a halt, leaving fans wondering what comes next. Khan didn’t hesitate to address her future and made it clear that AEW still sees Moné as a major part of its plans moving forward.

“Yeah, I am very excited about Mercedes Moné. She's a huge part of AEW and I'm very excited to have her back in AEW hopefully soon. She's been traveling the world. She's wrestled all over. I think she's hit a rough spot in her wrestling career in terms of her championship aspirations. She held so many championships all over the world. And now, with Mercedes having traveled the world, she won all these championships and now she's had some setbacks. I still think she's one of the top wrestlers on the planet and I'm excited for her to return to AEW in 2026.”

Khan’s comments directly address the growing speculation about Moné’s absence and make it clear that her return to AEW is not a matter of if — but when. Even after losing multiple championships during her recent international run, he framed her current situation as a temporary setback rather than a long-term shift in her standing.

For a wrestler who built her reputation by dominating across multiple promotions, the recent losses marked a rare reset. But according to Khan, that reset could lead straight into her next AEW chapter once the timing lines up.

Do you think Mercedes Moné’s eventual return to AEW will lead to another major championship run, or should the company take a different direction when she comes back? Let us know your thoughts.
