AEW has obviously seen a lot of changes over six years, but some fans wonder whether there’s a chance AEW could pull off two-night events like WWE. As it turns out, Tony Khan is actually open to the idea in the future.

While speaking to Z100 New York, Tony Khan was asked whether AEW had considered running a two-night pay-per-view event. Khan stated that while he’s happy with AEW’s current cadence and believes the company is having a strong year, he sees clear benefits to the two-night format.

Khan said doing two shows in the same place, or staying in one city for several events, can save a lot of money on setting up and taking down the stage, sometimes hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. That extra money could be spent on the show, marketing, paying wrestlers or making the company more profitable.

“I mean, it can be done. I think it’s nice having the cadence — we’re doing great this year, so I do like what we’re doing. But there are merits to it too, and the scale. Frankly, when people do those two nights, or a residency like the ones we’ve done in Chicago or the one coming up soon in Philadelphia, it saves a lot of money — hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars in setup and teardown costs. You can put that money back into the wrestling promotion, into marketing, into the wrestlers, and hopefully into profitability, which is great.”

The AEW President also said AEW’s new TV deals have made the company stronger and more successful than ever, with higher revenue each year. Therefore, Khan admitted it has big financial and logistical benefits, so he’s open to it one day.

“Now, with AEW having the new media rights, we are really a much healthier, stronger business. Our revenues are higher than ever, and it’s exciting because we’re a young, growing company that continues to increase revenue every year — and we’ve done so well. Certainly, when you do residencies like that, or anything that involves staying in the same place, you save a lot of money. That’s one of the nice things too.”

This comes after we have reported that WWE could be planning more two-night Premium Live Events following SummerSlam’s success. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether AEW will end up running a two-night pay-per-view event somewhere down the line.

Would you like to see AEW experiment with a two-night pay-per-view format, or should the company stick to its current event schedule? Sound off in the comments.
