The April 7 edition of NXT brought the fallout after Stand & Deliver. This was a big night for a lot of people, and Tony D’Angelo walked into the NXT Champion as the brand’s top champion.
This week’s NXT opened up with a brief video package from Stand & Deliver. This was capped off by Tony D’Angelo’s NXT Title win over Joe Hendry, Ethan Page, and Ricky Saints in a fatal four-way match. Then Tony came out to address the fans.
The NXT Arena opened up with “you deserve it” chants. Then Tony D’Angelo said that a lot of fans may remember where he came from, and he admitted that he was just a kid then. Now he is a man, and the first-ever NXT Grand Slam Champion in history.
Tony D’Angelo said he’s made some good and bad decisions over his NXT career, but he wouldn’t take them away because they made him who he is today. Then D’Angelo mentioned Joe Hendry, and he appeared without the NXT Championship.
Joe Hendry congratulated Tony D for being the better man for one night. Then he wondered if it weren’t for Ricky Saints or Ethan Page, would Hendry still be champion? That is when Ethan Page came out to cut a promo, who was soon joined by Ricky Saints. Then DarkState made their way out to flank everyone in the ring.
NXT security swarmed the ring, but it was too late. A brawl broke out between everyone in the ring as the show cut to commercial. The NXT roster emptied as the brawl continued erupting. Then Robert Stone booked an eight-man tag team match for later on in the night.
