Tony D’Angelo’s Current WWE Status Since July Disappearance

Tony D’Angelo hasn’t been seen on WWE NXT TV since July, and fans are starting to wonder if The Don of NXT is gearing up for something big—or if something’s going on behind the scenes.

During the September 29 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, a listener brought up the mysterious absence, but there wasn’t much concrete news to offer. When asked if there was any update on Tony D, Bryan Alvarez admitted he was just as in the dark as everyone else.

“I haven’t heard a thing,” Alvarez said. “I presume he’s got to go to the main roster, but I guess we’ll see.”

Dave Meltzer had nothing to add and simply agreed with Alvarez’s brief comment.

“Yeah.”

That’s it—no new information, no reports of injury, and no word from WWE about what’s next for the former NXT Tag Team Champion. It’s a strange silence considering Tony D had been featured heavily in NXT’s ongoing storylines before disappearing without explanation.
