WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas has opened up about not being part of the company’s tributes to the late Hulk Hogan, saying he’s actually relieved he wasn’t invited.

Following Hogan’s passing, WWE honored him across Raw, SmackDown, and SummerSlam with appearances from various wrestling legends. Atlas, who has a history with Hogan, was not among them — and he explained why that was fine with him during a conversation with Portland Press Herald.

“I’m kind of glad that they didn’t invite me because then I would only have been there for the money, not for him.”

The official cause of Hulk Hogan’s death had been confirmed — and it revealed the wrestling icon was battling more than anyone knew. According to the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center, Hogan died from acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. This occurs when blood flow to the heart is suddenly blocked, damaging the heart muscle. His death was ruled natural.

The report also disclosed that Hogan had been living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a type of cancer affecting white blood cells, which had never been publicly revealed before his passing. The documents also listed a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), an irregular and often rapid heart rate. Hogan went into cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home on July 24, was transported to Morton Plant Hospital, and was pronounced dead at 71.

A spokesperson from the medical examiner’s office confirmed they had received a cremation request but said, “I am not aware when Mr. Bollea will be cremated.”

Atlas, now in his 51st year as a professional wrestler, is still active in the ring at 71 years old. He’s wrestled five times in 2025 and regularly sells merchandise and signs autographs at conventions. While he remains committed to wrestling, his comments suggest he values sincerity over simply showing up for a paycheck.
