Toni Storm has been feuding with Mercedes Moné over the past several weeks and it will culminate at All In: Texas. Days ahead of the match, Storm has downplayed that it will be the greatest women’s match ever.
While speaking to The New York Post, Toni Storm was asked about her upcoming match against Mercedes Moné at All In Texas, specifically why she thinks they can pull off what’s being billed as potentially the greatest women’s match ever, especially since they’ve never had a singles match together.
Storm stated she doesn’t think it’ll be the greatest women’s match ever and that it might be nothing like that at all. She doesn’t expect it to be a great match in the traditional sense, but instead a very violent fight.
According to Storm, they’re not stepping into the ring to put on a spectacular show; this is about survival. She said she’s literally fighting for her life out there, and admitted that this could be her total downfall.
The AEW Women’s Champion pointed out that Mercedes wants her gone, and she knows that because of how often Mercedes keeps attacking and blindsiding her. Toni stated that the match will be anything but great, it’ll be horrible and violent and that’s why it’s worth a watch.
“I don’t, I don’t think it’ll be the greatest women’s match ever. Actually, I think it’ll be nothing. Uh, no. I really don’t. I really don’t think it’ll be a great match. I think it’ll be a very violent fight. We’re not there to put on a great show. This is a fight. I’m fighting for my life out there. As I said, this could be my complete demise. This could be the end of me. She wants to put me out. This woman wants me gone. And I know that because she keeps attacking me, blindsiding me. So this will be anything but great, and everything horrible, violent — all the more reason to watch.”
We will have to wait and see whether Toni Storm will be able to successfully retain the AEW Women’s Championship against the CEO of AEW, as the odds are stacked against her. After all, the match definitely has potential to be incredible, even if Storm doesn’t feel the same way.
Do you think Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Moné will turn out to be a violent fight as Storm predicts, or could it still steal the show in its own way? Sound off in the comments.
