Tiffany Stratton’s promo with Charlotte Flair on SmackDown might’ve gone off the rails, but Eric Bischoff says the WWE star doesn’t need any backstage punishment—because she already punished herself.
During the April 4 episode of SmackDown, Stratton and Flair traded some unscripted barbs during an in-ring showdown ahead of their WWE Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 41. Stratton brought up Flair’s divorces, while Charlotte fired back with a savage claim that Ludwig Kaiser—Stratton’s real-life boyfriend—had been sliding into her DMs.
The segment caught attention fast, but Bischoff isn’t calling for consequences. On his 83 Weeks podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer told Conrad Thompson that Stratton’s on-air fumble is punishment enough.
“She punished herself. She dropped the ball. That’s as much of a lesson, assuming she has any degree of self-awareness, which I’m sure she does or she wouldn’t be in the position she’s in,” Bischoff said. “But she’s gonna look back at this and it’s gonna haunt her because it scked and it didn’t work, and she’ll learn from it. That’s about as much punishment as she needs, I guess.”*
Stratton, who joined the main roster in February 2024, picked up a win over NXT standout Roxanne Perez on the April 11 episode of SmackDown, but her night didn’t end there. Charlotte Flair ambushed her both in the parking lot and again after the match, sending a loud message ahead of their WrestleMania clash on April 19.
If Bischoff were still working in WWE, he’d take a different approach behind the scenes. “
I’d pull her aside and say, ‘Hey, let’s sit down and watch this together. How do you feel about that? But before I hit play, Tiff, how do you feel about that? You did a good job with that? Would you have done anything any differently? Really? Huh? All right, let’s watch it back and see how you feel when it’s over.’”
With WrestleMania 41 just around the corner, all eyes will be on how Stratton responds in the spotlight—and whether that live mic gets her in trouble again or elevates her game.
Do you think Tiffany Stratton crossed the line, or was it just another intense promo gone off-script? Should WWE let these moments happen more often? Drop your take in the comments below.
