Turns out, Tiffany Stratton didn’t just clap back at Charlotte Flair on a whim—she may have known something was coming. New details have surfaced about the chaotic promo segment between Flair and Stratton on the April 4 episode of WWE SmackDown, and it’s even messier behind the scenes than fans realized.
On the latest WrestleVotes Radio, JoeyVotes revealed that the original script was supposed to be sharp—but structured. According to the report, Charlotte Flair was meant to deliver a dig comparing their legacies by saying the comparisons were “insulting to me but complimentary to you.” Flair was also scripted to say that Stratton only became champion because she had a “ski-lift” in the form of the Money in the Bank briefcase.
Stratton’s return fire was planned too—she was supposed to question why Flair only wrestled “30 matches in three years,” and take aim at Flair’s status by saying, “How can you claim a kingdom you’ve barely been around since 2024?” The final line was supposed to be Stratton declaring that “at WrestleMania 41, you’re sliding right back down.”
But that’s not what aired. What fans got instead was a live TV meltdown featuring Flair mocking Stratton’s voice and Stratton firing back with the now-viral “0-3” marriage line. According to JoeyVotes, Stratton was warned that Flair might go off-script, and decided to come in swinging just in case.
That decision split the locker room. Some felt Charlotte crossed a line first by going off-script and clowning Stratton’s voice, while others thought Stratton’s shot about Flair’s real-life personal life was way too far. WWE has since scrubbed parts of the promo from digital platforms, including all the relationship drama and voice-mocking bits.
Still, there’s no real-life beef—just a segment gone completely sideways. One WWE insider summed it up as “a wreck,” while another said there was a moment of “oh shit” backstage when the insults got personal. Despite the mayhem, WWE seems intent on sticking with the storyline and letting the tension play out in the ring.
Do you think Tiffany Stratton made the right move by firing back? Or did the whole segment cross a line on both sides? Sound off in the comments and tell us how you think WWE should handle it going forward.
