Tiffany Stratton isn’t afraid to shoot her shot—and she’s got her sights set on Mercedes Moné.
The current WWE Women’s Champion sat down with Gorilla Position and opened up about a dream opponent she hopes returns to WWE sooner rather than later. When asked if she’d like to see Moné—formerly known as Sasha Banks—back in the fold, Stratton didn’t hesitate.
“I hope so. I think that would be super cool if she came back. I would love to get in the ring with her,” she said.
Moné walked out of WWE in May 2022 alongside Naomi, following reported creative frustrations with how the Women’s Tag Team Champions were being booked. The move shocked the locker room and the fanbase. While Naomi eventually returned to WWE during the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match, Sasha Banks never looked back—rebranding herself as Mercedes Moné and dominating the AEW women’s division.
Before her exit, Moné was a central figure in WWE’s women’s evolution. In 2022, she returned on Friday Night SmackDown and announced her entry into that year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match. Though she didn’t win, she quickly found momentum again by teaming with Naomi. Together, they competed in a Fatal Four-Way at WrestleMania 38 and won the Women’s Tag Team Championship on Night 2.
They defended the titles a few times, but things eventually boiled over. Creative tension led to the duo walking out, and the belts were reportedly left on John Laurinaitis’ desk before they left the company.
Since then, Mercedes Moné has gone on to establish herself in AEW, with fans and critics alike praising her performances and influence. Still, some in WWE—like Stratton—are hoping for a second act in Stamford.
