WWE confirmed that WrestleMania 43 will be held in Saudi Arabia, marking the biggest international move yet for the company’s flagship event.

During the press conference, Bianca Belair shared her thoughts on what the moment means for women in wrestling, calling Saudi Arabia “a space specifically for women to make amazing moments.”

But not everyone shares that same perspective. AEW star Thunder Rosa addressed Bianca’s comments during an appearance on Busted Open Radio, offering a more critical view of the situation and the larger context surrounding WWE’s events in Saudi Arabia.

“They give them money. We’re gonna give you a show. That’s it. The stakeholders are calling the shots. And you have to go for what they tell you to do, otherwise you’re not gonna eat. This is part of your job.”

While Rosa acknowledged the progress WWE’s women have made on these shows, she questioned whether the events are truly changing anything for women in Saudi society.

“Bianca, you are absolutely right, the women that are participating in these shows are making history because seven years ago they couldn’t participate, but again, it’s like – you’re not gonna change how society looks at women in these countries. This is part of historical religions and everything else.”

Thunder Rosa’s response brings a deeper layer to the ongoing conversation around WWE’s presence in Saudi Arabia. While some see these events as groundbreaking, others question whether the optics match the actual reality.
