Thunder Rosa is still on the road to recovery—and while she’s not cleared to compete just yet, she’s already thinking ahead to a big comeback year.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion gave fans a long-awaited update on her in-ring status during an appearance on Masks, Mats & Mayhem. When asked about possibly reuniting with Toni Storm on AEW TV, Rosa admitted the decision isn’t up to her and made it clear that getting healthy is her top priority.

“Unfortunately, it’s not up to me. I just work there. I just come, show up, say thank you very much. I’m happy to be here and when I go back and wrestle, that’s what you do. I would have loved to but, given the circumstances right now, I can’t be in the ring. So, people have to move on and that’s what happened… And for me right now, my health is super important for the rest of my career.”

Rosa last wrestled in July during AEW’s All In Texas show, capping off a tough stretch of matches that saw her compete three nights in a row—including appearances on Collision and ROH Supercard of Honor. She’s since taken time away to focus on recovery, both mentally and physically.

While she’s not rushing her return, Rosa is staying busy. She revealed she’s currently preparing for a major year in 2026, which includes more than just wrestling. She’s also working on a documentary, a music project, and finishing her Master’s degree.

“And I’m preparing myself to get back in the ring, which is important. I think this year, 2026, is gonna be extremely important. I have to stay healthy for big opportunities to come in the future. What do they look like? I don’t know yet. But for sure, my Master’s degree is coming, that’s for sure, and some music is coming, and a documentary is coming. So, there’s a lot of stuff that we’re working on…”

Although fans might not see her lacing up the boots just yet, Rosa is determined to come back stronger—on her own terms. And when she does, it’s clear she wants the next chapter to be even bigger than the last.
