AEW Revolution took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The AEW Women’s World Title was a major focus on a 13-match card. The kickoff show started things with a battle royale before the main card.
Thekla shocked the AEW fan base when she became the AEW Women’s World Champion. At Revolution, Kris Statlander had a chance to get her championship back.
Statlander and Thekla’s match was not a typical contest. Tony Khan booked a two out of three fans match for the two in LA.
Thekla won the first fall in rather quick fashion, considering the length of time that pinfalls take during AEW pay-per-views. The second fall started with Kris Statlander really stepping things up.
At that point, it was up to Kris Statlander to stay in this match. Then Kris was able to get a pinfall after nailing a tombstone piledriver.
After that, Thekla removed the referee’s belt after he was taken down, so she could use it as a weapon. In the end, Thekla was able to take Kris Statlander down and score the third pinfall to retain the title.
