The NXT Women’s North American Title has been a prized possession for anyone who got to carry it. This week’s NXT saw a very competitive match for that championship.
The December 16 episode of NXT was quite a show, and they gave fans a few reasons to tune in. You never know what can happen when a title is on the line, and the NXT Women’s Division is very good at proving that.
A WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship match took place, with “The Glamour” Blake Monroe defending the title against Thea Hail. This match kicked off the show, and fans were very excited to see it go down.
Since she was a member of Chase U, Thea Hail has captured the attention of NXT fans. Now those days as a student are in her past, and she’s doing her own thing. Needless to say, Thea has a ton of support from longtime NXT fans. Of course, Blake Monroe entered WWE by way of AEW and the indies, where she dominated as Mariah May, and she’s a very strong champion.
This match received a big fight feel, thanks to Mike Rome’s ring introductions. Then Blake Monroe got to work with Thea. Fans were all behind Thea, and she used that momentum to nail a dive to the outside, but Monroe was able to turn things around before they cut to commercial break.
When this match returned to action after a word from sponsors, Thea Hail was fighting her way out of a chinlock from the champion. However, Blake Monroe was able to keep Thea down. A caffeinated Thea Hail jumped up, and she was able to rally for a very close near fall, in fact, the referee’s hand hit the mat. Then Blake’s music played for a moment. Suddenly, Thea Hail was given the title, and she cried in the middle of the ring.
This was a confusing moment, and Blake Monroe looked shocked. Only time will tell what happens, but this is certainly going to shake things up.
