Thea Hail is embracing her new role as NXT Women’s North American Champion — even if the win wasn’t originally in the script.

Just hours after her shocking and unplanned victory over Blake Monroe on the December 16 episode of WWE NXT, Hail took to Instagram with a proud locker room photo, smiling and holding up the title belt. Her caption simply read:

“YOUR NEW NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION ✨”

The post quickly gained traction, with notable WWE stars commenting in support — despite the behind-the-scenes chaos her win caused. Natalya replied, “Congrats!!!!!” while Nia Jax and Nikkita Lyons added their own messages of encouragement. Lyons even wrote, “keep it shiny for me.”

This was Hail’s first public reaction since reports confirmed that the title change was the result of a real-life miscommunication during the match. Monroe was supposed to retain the championship, but an unexpected spot left her winded, unable to lift her shoulder during a pinfall. Hail, unaware of Monroe’s condition, went for the cover — and the referee was forced to count the three.

Backstage sources say the botched finish triggered immediate rewrites, as creative had already laid out plans involving Monroe as champion. WWE is now reportedly considering taping a quick course correction during upcoming episodes, but no official word has been given.

Despite the chaos, Hail is standing tall — literally and figuratively — as the titleholder, for now.
