Ava—real name Simone Johnson—has officially parted ways with WWE.
In a Instagram post shared just moments ago, Ava confirmed that her appearance on this past Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT was her final one. She revealed that she has chosen not to renew her contract with the company, signaling the end of her chapter as part of the WWE roster.
“This past Tuesday was my last appearance on NXT & subsequently WWE. Thank you to all who have cheered, watched, and supported me through my journey. While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it’s also a new turning point in my life. It has been an honor & a privilege to be Ava.”
The daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ava made history when she signed with WWE in February 2020, becoming the first fourth-generation wrestler in company history. She officially debuted on NXT in October 2022 as part of Joe Gacy’s faction The Schism and later transitioned into an authority role.
In January 2024, she made headlines as the youngest General Manager in WWE history at just 22 years old. During her run, she notably introduced the NXT Women’s North American Championship at Stand & Deliver 2024.
Today’s announcement brings a close to a unique era for NXT—and a new beginning for Ava. It remains to be seen whom will fill her position as the general manger of the NXT brand. Ringside News will continue to keep our readers informed when that information becomes available.
Ava’s WWE chapter may be over, but her story is just getting started. Whether she steps into another ring, heads to Hollywood, or carves out her own path entirely.
