Tessa Blanchard Reveals Frustration Over Empty Promises During WWE NXT Stint

Tessa Blanchard had a brief stint in NXT back in 2016 and now she’s revealed how frustrated she got there because of empty promises.

While speaking on her YouTube channel, Tessa Blanchard talked about getting an opportunity to do extra spots at NXT and driving eight hours from Charlotte, North Carolina to Orlando, even though she was still very new in wrestling and barely making any money. When she got there, she said hello to everyone but didn’t get a chance to wrestle or have a match.

Blanchard admitted it was tough and she felt defeated, but also tried to accept it as just part of how the wrestling business works, with plans constantly changing. At that point, she was still young and inexperienced. Without enough money for a hotel, she ended up sleeping in a Wawa parking lot before driving all the way back home.

“I remember I had an opportunity to do extra spots at NXT. And so I drove from Charlotte, North Carolina to Orlando, Florida. Took me about 8 hours. And I still at this time in wrestling was making like no money. I was still very new. And I got there and said hi to everyone but didn’t have an opportunity, didn’t have a match.

And I remember feeling very defeated, but also like, hey, that’s the nature of the business, right? Like sometimes it’s just you think it’s one thing and it’s another thing. There’s a lot of changes. You got to be ready for anything. But at that time, I was very young, very new. So, didn’t have a hotel. Slept in Wawa for a little bit and then drove all the way back home.”

Later, Blanchard got a call from William Regal, who told her there was another opportunity with NXT and that this time she would have a match. She made the long drive again, only to find out she didn’t have a match after all.

The whole experience left Tessa Blanchard feeling crushed and disappointed, realizing she had made the trip for nothing and had to turn around and drive all the way home again.

“I remember I got a call from William Regal and he said, ‘Okay, we’ve got another opportunity for you in NXT. You’re going to have a match this time.’ And I remember driving all the way there and did not have a match that time.

And I remember just feeling so defeated, like I was like, damn. Like they said I was going to have a match and I didn’t have a match. Turned around, drove all the way back home.”

Tessa Blanchard has obviously become an established name in wrestling now but she’ll always remember why her time in NXT was frustrating and fans understand why she feels this way.
