Tessa Blanchard isn’t backing down after old accusations resurfaced online, and this time she pushed back directly after a viral post brought up one of the most controversial claims tied to her past.

The renewed backlash started when a social media user shared a screenshot of a past tweet from fellow wrestler Allysin Kay, who publicly accused Blanchard of serious misconduct during a past incident in Japan. In the resurfaced post, Kay referenced an alleged confrontation that has followed Blanchard for years. Kay’s original accusation called out what she claimed happened during that incident, writing:

“Remember when you spat in a black woman’s face and called her the N-word in Japan? Was that you ‘supporting women’? The AUDACITY of this tweet.”

That post circulated again as fans and critics revisited long-standing accusations against Blanchard. After the screenshot spread online, Blanchard issued another response and directly addressed the timing of the renewed criticism, suggesting it was intentionally brought up at a significant moment in her career.

“An argument that had nothing to do with race in 2016 by people who were not present… Brought up the literal night before a history making world title fight… really man.”

Blanchard continued by addressing how the situation has been framed publicly over the years, acknowledging her own behavior while rejecting the idea that race played a role in the original dispute.

“You can be black white brown purple yellow or green, if you’re an asshole you’re an asshole. I’ve been an asshole plenty in my life to know.”

She also made it clear that responding publicly wasn’t her original plan, but said the repeated resurfacing of accusations forced her to defend herself once again.

“This really didn’t deserve a response, but I can only take so much. Anyone who knows me, knows I’m not that. Let a woman live.”

Over the years, multiple wrestlers and fans have revisited the controversy, keeping debate around accountability and personal conduct tied closely to her public image.

Blanchard remains active in wrestling despite the continued criticism, but each time past accusations reappear, the conversation surrounding her conduct quickly reignites among both peers and fans.

Do you think resurfacing past allegations before major career moments is fair, or should those issues be addressed separately from current opportunities? Let us know your thoughts and share your feedback below.
