Team 3D could be walking into their final match tonight — and this one’s got retirement written all over it.
TNA’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view goes down in just a few hours, and all eyes are on the legendary tag team showdown between Team 3D and The Hardys. It’s being billed as D-Von Dudley’s last match, and now, backstage talk suggests this may be the end of the road for the entire team.
According to Fightful Select, internal chatter within TNA points to tonight being more than just a one-off appearance.
“Those that we spoke to in TNA believe there’s a very good chance Team 3D, or at the very least D-Von, ends up retiring after tonight. They were not factored into major creative plans.”
D-Von hasn’t taken a bump in years, and the build toward this reunion has been years in the making. Speaking with The Boston Herald, he made it clear this return is about closure — and getting to do things on his own terms.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to go out there and wrestle for one last time. Vince McMahon wanted me to retire and be a producer in WWE, which is why I originally retired [in 2016]. I’m healthy, I’m ready, and this is my chance to finally go out on my terms.”
Meanwhile, Bubba Ray Dudley isn’t entertaining the idea that this match is anything less than iconic. He fired back at critics who questioned the timing or necessity of the bout.
“For those who don’t think this is a good idea, they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. This is about the two most decorated and iconic tag teams of all time going out there one last time.”
Jeff Hardy is also embracing the moment, making it clear this isn’t just a match — it’s a celebration of everything these teams helped build.
“It was madness back then. Now we’re near the end of our careers, but we’re still out here going through tables and jumping off ladders, which is insane. This match in Lowell is going to be extreme – it has to be. We owe that to the fans.”
TNA hasn’t locked Team 3D into any long-term creative direction beyond Bound For Glory, so tonight might really be the last time fans see the Dudley Boyz together in a TNA ring.
