AEW fans will be missing one of their most iconic voices for a while. Taz has announced that he’s going under the knife once again—this time for total shoulder replacement surgery—and he’ll be stepping away from AEW Dynamite to recover.
The ECW legend and AEW commentator shared the news via Instagram Stories, letting fans know about his upcoming medical procedure. After already undergoing knee replacement surgery last year, Taz is now tackling another major step in his long-standing health journey.
“I will be having total shoulder replacement surgery in a short time. Therefore I will be off AEW Dynamite for awhile. See you soon.”
Taz didn’t give an exact date for the surgery or return, but his message was clear: this break from commentary is only temporary. He previously missed the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view due to doctor’s appointments and imaging scans related to his ongoing health issues, along with much-needed rest.
While it’s never easy to step away, Taz has always shown determination and grit—both inside the ring and behind the mic. Fans can rest easy knowing that his passion for the business remains intact, and when he does come back, he’ll do it with the same fire that made him “The Human Suplex Machine.”
Wishing Taz a smooth surgery and full recovery.
