The Taz Show Recap – Special Guests Jim Ross & Mike Johnson, SummerSlam Preview, Getting Fined by Vince McMahon, More!

Block 4:

Ross believes that Braun Strowman is the next ‘guy’ in WWE. He thinks that Lesnar will retain his Universal Championship at SummerSlam and eventually put Strowman over in a one on one contest. If and when that happens, Strowman will be a made man in WWE.

Taz says he’s so happy for Samoa Joe because he deserves this main event push, and Ross & Johnson agree entirely. Taz remembers a time in TNA when most people assumed guys like Joe and even A.J. Styles would never have a chance to succeed in WWE; Joe because of his body, and Styles because of his Southern accent.

Ross agrees and says that accents are a huge issue for McMahon and WWE. Ross and Taz recall getting fined $100 by Vince McMahon for saying ‘ain’t’ on a live broadcast. Taz actually stooged himself off to McMahon after the show because McMahon dind’t notice during the live broadcast, but once Taz admitted to saying it McMahon fined him anyways.

Taz thinks WWE’s commentary teams are very vanilla right now. Johnson believes that Corey Graves has a little bit of personality and he’s coming from the perspective of a former wrestler which is good, but for the most part he agrees with Taz.

Ross agrees as well and says that Michael Cole is the prototype for WWE commentators right now. Cole does exactly what the company wants each and every night, and if you want job security that’s the best way to get it. Ross thinks that young commentators should look at what Cole does each week and try to copy that.

That sums up today’s episode of The Taz Show. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya on Monday for another recap!
