The Taz Show Recap – Smackdown Live Analysis, Owens & McMahon Set for HIAC, Thoughts on ECW’s Rebirth, More!

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show by sending his prayers and condolences to the family, friends and fans of Lance Russel, who passed away early yesterday morning. He says that he never knew Russel personally but there’s no denying that he’s one of the greatest commentators of all time. He adds that Russel’s commentary work helped make many Superstars credible in Memphis Wrestling, just like how Joey Styles helped Taz become a star and Jim Ross helped Steve Austin become a star years later.

Getting into his thoughts about last night’s episode of Smackdown Live, Taz says he’s a big fan of the work being done by The Usos right now. He loves this ‘gangster’ gimmick, and he believes these two guys are killing it in this role. However, Taz wishes WWE would change the lighting or the feel for The Usos’ in-ring promo segments, to make these guys stand out even more.

He adds that although The Usos are heels, the live audience were hanging on every one of their words last night. When The New Day’s music hit there seemed to be a bit of a let down, just because The Usos were knocking their promo out of the park.

Taz thought Smackdown Live opened with an awkward first segment last night. He thought it was weird that Renee Young was in the ring to open the show, and then Nakamura made his entrance which was followed by an in-ring promo segment. He still doesn’t understand why WWE continues to put Nakamura in these high pressure promo segments, given that he’s still struggling to learn the English language.
